These posters are very accurate in depicting the brutality of war and the madness of soldiers….. American or otherwise. Sadly, human greed will forever bring out human cruelty….

Its really describing. To imagine how it is that we are proceved though someone else’s eyes. Sad really, seeing that the US helps other countries and nations in relief efforts. Sometimes its not even the government that does, its the people, because they do care about the best of mankind (for the most part at least, form an optimist point of view).

Projection: the attribution of one’s own attitudes, feelings, or suppositions to others. This gives a good sense of what will happen to every beaurucrat in South Korea (and captured western soldier) if the Peoples’ Army gets half a chance.

The Japanese spread similar lies to their citizens during WW2. There are stories about how American soldiers attempted to save Japanese citizens, but the citizens, having heard the propaganda from their government how American soldiers raped and tortured, decided instead to throw their children, spouses, and themselves off of cliffs rather than be caught by the “evil” Americans.
Those of you claiming that all American soldiers to similar things in war times, shame on you. It takes a sick mind and a sick person to even imagine doing some of these decrepit acts. I’m not naive enough to think that it doesn’t happen, but it is largely the exception and not the rule as you would claim.
Paul said on March 10th, 2010 , 5:09 pm
They look extremely similar to the covers of mid-twentieth century Western depictions of Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese soldiers portrayed in children’s war comics.

The comments here are much worse than the paintings. North Koreans have the excuse that they live in a brutal dictatorship with no access to real information.
For a citizen of a western democracy to make the comments I’ve read here is a sign that his or her brain doesn’t function. Have it chopped out and replaced with a pile of mac and cheese, so at least you’ll have a ready supply of carbs in case you get hungry.

This coming from the North Korea where the children are five inches shorter than their parents because of systemic malnutrition.
Meanwhile, in South Korea, allies of the evil Americans, the number one problem is that restaurants put too much food on the tables.
As for the belief that this is happening in Guantanamo Bay, what utter bullshit.
Again, the biggest problem for the people locked up at Guantanamo is that they’re getting too fat from overeating. Hardly the stuff of torture.
But then, imbeciles who believe these pictures have any validity are the sort of easily duped sheep who’ll fall for any lie, however egregious.

Uh, yes, yes, they are. We are not hacking axes into people’s heads and burying them alive in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.
American atrocities in Guantanamo Bay amount to waterboarding 3 people in order to prevent them from killing hundreds if not thousands of others and being once alleged to have flushed a Koran down the toilet.
Meanwhile a few million people in Korea are reduced to eating grass and people get shot for their politics on a regular basis. There is trying to make an interesting point and then there’s being too cute by half. America is not North Korea and trying to insist on an equivalence between the two only helps you to one day actually wind up with North Korea. Don’t be stupid.
“Why is this less believeable than american “documentation” from the same time?”
Wild guess, because they’re PAINTINGS? You have to WANT to believe a painting. Although if the American soldiers really did just totally randomly nail shit to people’s heads instead of even attempting to, you know, actually engage the enemy soldiers in combat or something, that does go a long way toward explaning how that war came out I guess.
Did these come from North Korea or the Democrat National Committee?

First of all, like many other anti-american countries, we do not capture journalists, soldiers, or tourists (including children) and torture / punish /kill them just for being there. An american-jewish business man had his head sawed off on camera filmed by al-qaeda. this is just one minor reason why we and many other allied countries are fighting for liberty and freedom; not only for ourselves and our allies, but for the rest of the world. While we do this, we are taking the hit economically for others. what other country who is not allied would do that for the world.

If we ever did invade N. Korea, showing kindness and exorbitant generosity would be so contrary to what they are being led to believe, it would utterly destroy public support for the current government.
Hell, we could probably take over the country by tactically inserting platoons of unarmed humanitarians with American flags on their uniforms.

There will always be a slant to war time art like this. Go back to how we represented Russians as recently as the 60′s, or how we’re representing Arabs now. Our comedians and much of our media make them out to be vicious killers who are all religious zealots and who’s language is comprised entirely of the “la” sound spoken at high speed. When ever you are in a war or political situation with another country there tends to be assumptions and stereotypes made.
Now I’m not saying that American’s went in an acted like saints, I’m just saying let’s not condemn the whole of the US Armed Forces because their enemies said they’re evil people. That’s like asking my ex-girlfriends if I’m a nice guy, we’ve duked it out they’re going to have a bad opinion of me.

Those of you that think these pictures are accurate seriously need to wake the fuck up. North Korea is one of the most heavily brainwashed countries on the planet. Kim Jong Il also claims to have invented the hamburger, to feed his country. Then he spends tons of money on booze and Benzes, while his countrymen starve to death. The North Korean government has an entire department devoted to creating propaganda like this. America is not innocent of all war crimes, and yes we’ve done some bad things, but don’t be so damn gullible, these pictures are just part of the massive brainwashing that goes on in North Korea.

War is war. It doesn’t matter if it’s an American war, Arab war, German, war (pick a culture). Your going to get horror stories. So when you’re commenting about how America is the big bad guy because we’ve used “smart bombs” or heard stories about Guantanamo, you could also look at your own countries in war and you’ll find similar stories. You just refuse to listen to those stories and are too willing to believe any propaganda you hear about American wars. And I would also like to point out that smart bombs were developed to take out the “bad guys” with as little collateral damage as possible. You could also refer to a human being with explosives strapped to their bodies as smart bombs but those smart bombs want to kill women and children.
These illustrations will only serve to promote a war. As the youth that are exposed to these images grow into adults, they will have a fear that America will attack. That fear could lead to making decisions that would inevitably lead to an armed conflict. All because they were fed a bunch of lies from a political system with an agenda. I’m not blind to the fact that American politicians also have their own agendas which are typically focused on money. I wish we could get back to a government by the people for the people and stop big business from dictating policies with their money. But we’re not the only country with this problem.

Reading through these comments are just as sickening as the art. Anyone who believes that American soldiers actually did these atrocities on a regular basis is completely ignorant. Sure there were the abbherant few, but if anyone did these things it was the North Koreans. The way that communist governments and communist rebels treat their own people and their enemies is the very definition of horror. These folks then pass on the idea that Americans did this also.

Propaganda is about slanting the truth to make people believe what you want them to believe. Just because someone paints a picture doesn’t make it true. North Korea needs us to be the villain so they can tell their people that they are all that stands between them and their enemies. Otherwise they wouldn’t be able to stay in power because the people would revolt about the food shortages, but people are more willing to put up with less during a war. It’s an old trick that has been used by dictators ever since the first kings and queens. The short version is don’t believe everything you read or see.

I have a hard time believing it was common practise by the u.s or any of the other aligned soldiers that they would behave like this, Remember it was the north that invaded the south and the u.s and its allies were only protecting what was their terrirotory previously, This war was dropped soon as the north gave up the invasion ideas and just went back to the common divide.
I am not being bius towards the u.s here as we all know its imperial but try do remember its Propoganda!

Yes, the Korean war was bad, but they haven’t let go of their passion for these kinds of things. In a way, they are as immature as little elementary children.

Every war and ideologies has it’s own interpretations. In the Korean War, communists slaughtered innocent civilians thinking they were capitalists. And capitalists slaughtered innocent civilians thining they were communists. War, throughout history, brings out the worst in people. This political art is only a one-sided expression of the whole truth.

Maybe the authors of those posters wanted to show that soldiers acting far from their motherland feel themselves more liberated and can do things they woudln’t even think about staying at home? Certainly, not all militarians are posterslike, but some of them can behave so. Is it present in any army, how do yo think?

Wild guess, because they’re PAINTINGS? You have to WANT to believe a painting.

That the US gives the most when disaster hits is wrong. The US is no 20 something on the list of donators.
As sickening as this North Korean Nazi-style propaganda is, I fail to see the difference to FOX NEWS that learned from Dr. Goebbels aswell. They use the same methods. Find scapegoats to blame everything on. O’Reilly is the best proof

Germany and Russia? Any chance you have been subject to anti German or anti Russian propaganda

I find it quite odd reading some of these comments as it appears people seem to be failing to realise the word propoganda, Yes war is tragedy and murder but propoganda is the distortion of truth to create a mindset against a enemy.

What’s disturbing and sad about these is not the gorey brutallity of the material, since every country has spread propaganda of this nature sometime during it’s wartime, but how North Korea CONTINUES to displays these kinds of images to it’s citizens, inciting fear and hatred when there is no fault. Yes, the Korean war was bad, but they haven’t let go of their passion for these kinds of things. In a way, they are as immature as little elementary children.

Pretty interesting stuff these North Korean artists drew. However, it doesn’t change the fact that both communism and democracy is one in the same.

The biggest propaganda comes out of American movies and Television – The world just isn’t like that! The Great Hulking American Neanderthal has become unsustainable in his own land and faces extinction by the American Medical Cartel’s insurance adjusters – they decide life and death and “Cull the Herd” by refusing medical care to “Unemployables” much to the delight of the economists and politicians who do not want this nuisance expense to continue. Truth is, even old soldiers get killed off this way sometimes but America is strengthened by it overall!

does anyone commenting know anything about north korea? or is it still trendy to act as though the US is made up of capitalist pig dogs that live on the blood of unsavories? militaries do some messed up stuff. sometimes governments use their militaries for good. these are both true of the US and many other nations. i don’t care what your snarky rhetoric is, north korea is an ACTUAL dictatorship, and propaganda like this keeps the people from considering that there are people from the outside that want to help.

Pictures are pretty close to reality. Just look at the leaked films of american soldiers sending hellfire robots on innocent civilians. Why is this less true than hammering nails in the head of people?

Looks just like present day North Korea, minus the American soldiers.

Wow, lots of intelligence on this thread. Props to the people who actually know what propaganda means and can locate North Korea on a map.

propaganda |ˌpräpəˈgandə|
noun
1 chiefly derogatory information, esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
Christfuck guys.
It’s a provocative, biased opinion of American soldiers.
Everyone knows that most of Asia is brainwashed anyway. No matter what we say, they’ll believe these paintings are photographs.

“American atrocities in Guantanamo Bay amount to waterboarding 3 people in order to prevent them from killing hundreds if not thousands of others ”
Yeah, right… if you’re THAT certain they’re guilty of something THEN CHARGE THEM. The truth is that the US has little to no evidence against the people held at Guantanamo, they are simply holding them without charge.
